2001 Mercury Marquis Engine Code for possible bad Cat.

The check engine light is on, my scanner shows a code of P0430 which indicates a possible bad catalytic converter or a bad O2 sensor. Don't know which. The car runs normal. What is the harm of not getting this repaired?

If it is running good and hasn't lost power, chances are the catalytic converter is good. However, if you have a bad O2 sensor, it can cause higher fuel consumption, driveability problems, damage to the catalytic converter.
