Air Conditioning problem
1996 Mercury Marquis V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 95000 miles

The air from the ac will not enter the car, only the heater air. I hear a continuous clicking noise when the car is on. The heater air is always on and won't turn off but sometimes if I hit a bump it will go off and the ac will kick in. But when I touch the ac compressor line it is cold. I wanted to check the ac & heater blend(vent) door but I don't have my manual to show me a diagram where to locate it. Can you please help me?

Do you
have the same problem?

Remove instrument panel assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel/Service and Repair. See: Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators Instrument Cluster / Carrier Service and Repair
Disconnect the electrical harness, to the temperature controller on the control assembly, from the blend door actuator.

Temperature Blend Door Actuator

Remove four screws and remove the blend door actuator from the plenum assembly.

Position the blend door actuator on the plenum assembly. Be sure the actuator cam is properly engaged with the temperature blend door crankarm.
Install the four screws that secure the blend door actuator to the plenum assembly.
Connect the temperature controller electrical harness to the blend door actuator.
Install instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel/Service and Repair.
