1996 Mercruy Grand Marquis will not idle

I have a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. 4.6 v8 and about 109,000 miles. As of yesterday I could only start my car when slightly pressing down on the gas petal. And in order to keep it running while stopped or parked I have to slightly press down on the accelerator petal. A few days prior to my newly acquired problem I added some generic gas treatment (the stuff that supposedly removes carbon buildup from fuel injector heads/carburetor) though the tank. This leads me to believe my efforts to improve my vehicle’s performance did just the opposite. Any ideas?

2 things come to mind 1 did you make sure the cleaner you used was safe for 02 sensors? And Ford throttle bodies? The other is the idle air controller may be gone!

Thank you for the feedback I greatly appreciate it. But, something interesting happened. The problem simply just went away. I'm definitely no expert mechantic, or even novice for that matter; but from what it seems, i'm guessing I may have just had some bad fuel in the line. Or something of that nature. The car runs just fine now. Once again thank you for your time.
