I have a 1986 Mercury Cougar with the 3.8L CFI motor and the thing will not Idel before being warmed up even when it's 90 degrees out. When I got the car I was told it had a choke problem. I was just Woundering if that is what it is and if so what would need to be done to fix it. Thanks.

Yes and no. The Heynes manual came with the car but it is very old and is missing many pages. I should problay get a new one. Also I have a pc program that I bought a long time ago for my grand am when it was leaking. It covers anything from 1983 to now and I decided to see what it would say just by my symptems and it told me to check the "cold start valve" or someting like that. Does that exist and if so would that have anything to do with my problem sence it does not idle only when it's cold?

Well I just repaced that sensor and it fixed my problem. Thanks bud.

I got one more problem to fix though. When the car idles it has a slight stumble every 8 to 15 seconds. Any idea what it could be? I was thinking a bad plug.

Thanks again.
