I have a 2001 Cougar and right now I have cylinder 4, 5, and six misfiring. Initially it was just 4, and 5 but a second look it was also 6. I just changed my plugs and wires so I know that isn't it.

What happens is when I turn on the car the engine shakes and sounds off. When I am driving from a low speed to high it starts too kick like the other cylinders are trying to fire, as I shift threw the gears.

I guess it could be my coil but before I go buy one I would like some advise to see if you have heard the same with this make and model.

Thank you.

Engine misfiring can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.
