1999 Mercury Cougar tail light bulb

How do I replace the tail light bulbs. The passenger side brake light is out.

You will need a philips screw driver.

Open lift gate. Remove the two screws in the rear trim panel to either side of latch on rear edge of cargo bin.

Pull the trim panel away from the back of bin, towards front of car. There are four snap clips holding the panel to the back of the bin., Then up to remove trim panel out of cargo bin,

the rear tail light lenses are held in my 3 large plastic wing nuts, remove wing nuts. Push on on bolts to slide lens away from rear of car.

Each light socket is loosened by a 1/4 turn counter clockwise.

Larger blubs are removed by pressing down and twistinga 1/8 turn counter clockwise.

Smaller blubs pull strait of of socket.

After swaping bulb in socket, remember to wipe any oil from your fingers off before reassembling car.
