2000 Mercedes Benz S500 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Ive been having trouble getting the locking pin off the rear brake calipers, which hold the pads. Which way are you supposed to push out the pin?

Any ideas?

Push the retainer pin inwards (towards the vehicle) as shown in picture below..
