I have a 1993 Mercedes 190e 2.3L, with 210,000 miles.

About 6 months ago the check engine light came on and when my mechanic went to diagnose the car, he could not get any readings from the diagnostic unit.

Anyone have any suggestions on what the issue is? I called and spoke to Mercedes and they said it could possibly be the ECU unit.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

Mercedes states 1993 190 has very limited DTC info, in fact it can only store dtc's on Calif models, all the rest use some difficult cryptic pulse system. How does the car run? Is it a Calif model? VECI label in engine compartment will tell you this!

Sorry it took me so long to respond.

I wasn't able to find a VECI label, not sure where it would be located in the engine compartment. I do live in California.

I was able to find the part numbers on the ECU.
0280800396 and 0105455532[07].

Can you tell if this is a Calif model or not?

The car runs pretty good, with exception to a rough idel at times. Although it may need new spark plugs.
