I have an oil pressure issue on my truck. Tuffy's believes it is the pump so I sought other advice and tried thicker oil but it did not work. I contacted another mechanic who will replace the pump but he is worried that a new pump will cause issues on a high mileage truck. He also believes (without seeing the truck) that the bearings could be damaged and that could be the issue. It has pressure at start but once it warms up the pressure drops to low and eventually completely bottoms out and the light comes on so I turn it off. Please help me out

first thing to do is do a manual pressure check with a gauge, it may be a sending unit or a gauge bad with that mileage and age of truck. A lot of times it is a bad oil filter. I only use Purolator, wix, napa and ac. Bosch is made by purolater.if he is going to replace pump it would be a good idea to look at bearing, but looking is just that not actually measuring for clearance. if above .004" then replace them.
