Hi,

The code doesn't identify a specific sensor in need of replacement. Instead, it indicated there is a correlation issue between the crankshaft position sensor and the bank 1 exhaust camshaft position sensor. Basically, something is causing the two to be out of sequence with each other.

Since the vehicle only has 90,000 on it, chances are the camshaft position sensor is the problem, but I can't be 100% sure.

Do me a favor. Take a look below at the two pics I attached. The first one explains the code and the second starts the diagnostics. In this situation, I need to know if any of the codes listed in pic 2 are also set. If they are, the focus will be on it or them if not, we have two things to do. Have a live data scan tool to check the sensor or replace it and hope that's the problem.

If that is the route you want to take, let me know and I'll provide directions and how to locate the correct sensor.

Let me know.

Joe

There are no other codes except P0017. I would just like to replace the sensor. Can you provide directions and how to locate the correct sensor?

Hi,

I just answered your other question. As far as the sensor is concerned, it is the bank 1 exhaust camshaft position sensor. I attached a picture below showing its location. (Pic 1)

As far as replacement, the last two pics provide directions specific to this vehicle.

Please understand, the sensor itself may not be the problem, but it certainly is possible.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

I'm glad to hear you got it fixed. As far as the new question, I would be happy to help. However, I need to ask a favor. We try to keep the threads specific to one topic, so they are more helpful to others. Because of that, could you copy and paste your new question onto a new thread?

Here is the link to start it:

I truly hope you understand. I will watch for your new post.

Take care of yourself,

Joe
