Lost transponder. I have been trying the relearn procedure the light with the car and lock has never gone off during the relearn, also the service theft deterrent system is on. Also, I've been trying the relearn procedure over and over with no success. This is the second ignition that has been installed due to losing the original key. The first time the relearn procedure worked fine.

The key needs to be programmed before installation or you will need to call a mobile locksmith to program it for you, which should cost about $200.00. Here are the instructions for the relearn to make sure it is done correctly.

If you are experiencing issues with the theft deterrent system on your 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, there might be an underlying problem with the security system that is preventing the relearn procedure from working correctly. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Check the Battery: Make sure the vehicle's battery has sufficient charge. A weak or low battery can sometimes cause issues with the theft deterrent system. Consider using a battery charger to ensure the battery is in good condition.

Use a Spare Key: If you have a spare key, try using it for the relearn procedure. Sometimes, a faulty or damaged key can cause problems with the transponder system.

Inspect Key and Ignition Cylinder: Check the ignition key for any signs of damage or wear. Also, examine the ignition cylinder to ensure there are no obstructions or debris preventing the key from being fully inserted.

Verify Relearn Procedure: Double-check that you are performing the correct relearn procedure for your specific vehicle model. Refer to the vehicle's owner's manual or a reliable source for the correct steps.

Reset Theft Deterrent System: Try resetting the theft deterrent system by disconnecting the vehicle's battery for about 15 minutes. Then, reconnect the battery and attempt the relearn procedure again. Check out the images (below). Please let us know how it goes

The ignition lock and key are new due to all keys being lost. This is the second time they have been replaced first time the truck was stolen. There was no problem with the first one relearning procedure.

Okay you might have a BCM going out. Let's do a CAN scan to see what's going on, you can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon.

here is a video to show you how:

Here is one for about $99.00 if you need it:
