Lock engine light on

I jumped my truck and started but lock engine light came on. Now when push on gas pedal no increase in rpm over idle, never seen this before. What can I do to turn it off or fix this so can drive truck? Cannot drive with no increase in rpm's. Any ideas what this is or how to fix this problem? Thanks, Phil

When the check engine light turns on, it means the engine control system has detected a fault within the control system.
Some fault codes results in the engine control system turning the control to limp mode, meaning engine performance is restricted and rectification of the fault has to be done and trouble codes erased to get the engine back to running order.
Go to a part store and get them to scan for trouble codes and post them here, we shall help you in getting the problem resolved. We need the exact trouble codes, descriptions are not important.
