I have a 1992 town car with a 4.6 and I need to replace the tension pulley bracket, and all I seem to find are the ones that come with the idle pulley along with the tension pulley. I wanted to know are the two types interchangeable.

Tension pulley and idler pulley are not interchangeable. Just replaced belt on my 91 yesterday. Diagram on cowling shows idler pulley on left side of engine when in fact it is next to tension pulley. In short, you need to purchase the unit you are looking at with both. If in fact your engine does have idler pulley on left side then remove it and use the one that came with the new assembly. Note: this may mean using a different length belt. Hope this helps.
