When the battery is replaced by the normal procedure, will the audio system require reentry of the "security code" in order to function?

How can I get that code? The Lexus dealer with whom I consulted indicated that they (the dealership) would replace the battery and make sure the audio system was working on delivery. Their charge for this service was unacceptable to me. Also, the would not give me the "security code". I think this is "crappy".

I want to change the battery myself as I have done for fifty years or more on quite a large number of cars that I owned.

Can you help me?

Check the owners manual for information about sound system reset/battery removal.

I really don't think changing the battery is going to cause a reset. Generally the radio security system is to prevent theft of radio, in other words, the physcical removal of the radio, it would not work for the thief until the security code was entered.

I would also let the dealer that their attitude amounts to extortion.

I would change battery, and if radio does not work, dealer should enter code for you FREE.
If not I would contact dealership ownerand complain, and go directly to Lexus if you have to (internet, or call customer service) and give Lexus names (service manager, owner).
