My car's lane departure sensor on the windshield was replaced about a year ago. It worked fine until recently. Now it works sometimes and works fine. However, at times it will not work and sends the message "lane departure needs maintenance".
Since the sensor on the windshield was replaced about one year ago and used sparingly over the next 10,000 miles, what can be causing this issue?

It may be losing connection with module a mechanic will have to scan for codes for this. Or it is out of sync.

How would it lose connection with the module. Would that be at the module itself or is it possible the switch on the dash is a problem?

The pins to these are very small and it can loose connection from bouncing around etc. It could be the switch as well but with this system you need to have it scanned for codes by amechanic. A lot of times you need dielectric grease on connection to make it better contact

Given the cost of just looking at a vehicle, regardless of any issue, can resolution by scanning for specific codes regarding lane departure on my 2010 Cadillac be accomplished by any auto shop that has the appropriate scanning equipment (as apposed to my Cadillac dealer's shop)?

Ok. We drove the car this evening and the lane departure worked flawlessly, even after shutting down and restarting at our destination. It is very confusing but I will look for a local shop that might be able to help. Thanks.
