Engine Mechanical problem
1980 Range Rover V8 All Wheel Drive Manual 100 miles

g, day, I have a range rover with a 4.4 v8 instead of the origanal 3.5, I have just rebuilt the engine with new everything, except no rebore and no crank grind. The proplem i, m having is when she warms up a bit it starts a very loud "lifter" type clacking noiise. If you turn it off and let it cool down for 10 min and start it back up the noise is gone and it sounds perfect, until it warms up again, but if you rev it till 2000rpm the noise dissapears completly, but as soon as you take your foot off the pedal the noise comes back and is worse on idle, the oil pressure sits on 200kpa on idle when cold but once she, s hot it drops to below 70kpa on idle, when i, m doing 50mph the prusure sits on 250 to 275 kpa . I, ve had one of these motor sound similar years ago, but that ended up being a separated piston sleeve. And i, m really hoping thats not the case this time. Thanks for any help. Rick

Do you
have the same problem?
