My car Kia sportage 4x4 would not shft properly would take extra long and would not switch to fourth took it to mecanic computer said it was silinoid a on trasmision malfunction. He cleared codes and it worked fin for about 1 week and a half. Then the same would happen, then yeasteday I got of the freeway and once I was almost to a complet stop the car jerked and turned off like it didn't downshift turned it on and it was fine then it on the freeway got off slowed down and again this time it contined to happen took it to mecanic and said it was fine no codes were in the computer what do u think it can be?

The converter isn't unlocking when you stop. It is the same as leaving the clutch out and trying to stop a vehicle with a manual transmission. The brakes will stop the vehicle and in the process, stop the engine unless the clutch is depressed. Speak with your mechanic. I believe there is a lockup sensor on the transmission that could be bad.

As far as the shift solenoid, it will cause irratic shifting. If clearing the codes corrected the problem, you are lucky. If the problem reoccurrs, replace the shift solenoids.
