I have an 03 Kia spectra w/110,000k. I had the transmission rebuilt 7 months ago. Two months ago I noticed when I put it into reverse the car would hesitate and then shift hard or "clunk" into gear. I took it to my mechanic and he couldn't diagnose the problem. I had him do a flush which had little effect. Last month the car stopped shifting hard into reverse but now I have very little power or torque when backing up. I really have to step on the throttle go get any momentum going. Loose wire or band?

Hi cheyenne
Is there any loss of power or torque in first gear? If so maybe bad low reverse brake ie. Band
If only in reverse the reverse clutch is slipping either due to pressure loss causing clutches to slip. Was there a warranty on trans rebuild? Take it back cause trans will need to be pulled.
Hope this sheds some light on the problem

Loss of power is just in reverse. High rpms but little movement.

It;s the reverse clutch pack then. Trans will need to come out and be repaired.
