2000 Kia Sephia 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

like 3 weeks a go a dude I work with mom was selling a 2000 kia sephia or spectra it started up and ran great when he test drove it it started smoking (white) maybe blue when he started back home the smoking had kinda stopped. The guy said it may be a head gasket but the car sat for 9 - 10 months I think it could be carbon build up or because all the oil has went to the bootom of the engine. I am thinking of buying this car cause I dont think it is a serious problem car didnt smoke before they parked it for months was never started this entire tme either

Hello,

I believe the smoke was just a tempary thing do to the fact that it did set for so long. The rings may have been stuck and after running for a bit broke loose.

Take a look at the engine oil if it appears to be over full, look like milk chocolate or a milk chocolate foam then it is possible the head gasket has failed.

Also look in the radiator or the fill tank for any indication of oil if present then possile the head gasket has failed. Also with vehicle running listen for bubbling and the oder of exhaust coming from it.
