Now when I bought my car the key-less entry did not work. After buying transmitters and trying to program them I decided to find the RCDLR. I found it, but it looked funny. It had a black wire, black/white wire, and a purple wire taped to the dash. I thought it looked fine but it wasn't working for some reason. Then I get a hold of the wiring schematic for that part and see I'm missing a whole wire. Now with this long message I've included said schematic but there are only 3 wires in my unit. Is the wire labeled OG orange? It said it leads to the fuse box connector c1 right? Number A10. If I'm reading this correctly, I can follow A10 to see what happened to my orange wire and attach a new wire to my old connector right? Because that seems to be the power wire and if it's not connected, I get no power. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm still new to this mechanic thing.

You are reading it correctly. The orange wire from the fuse block is you power feed. If you don't have any power at the RCDLR then clearly we need to track this wire and find out where it goes.

If you want to run a new wire then that is fine but I would want try and find out where it went. I will say tracing wires is not easy so I would understand just running a new one and moving on.

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks

We'll see that's the problem; there is no orange wire on my harness, never was. I'm going to have to trace it from the fuse block to see what happened to my wire. Now is there any idea as to what happened to the wire? I noticed that the previous owner had an amp hooked up because I found the wires under the drivers side panels by the door and seat belt. They left all the wires there along with a fuse container thing. I'm going to find out where the wire went so I can reattach it. I'm thinking they may have had another alarm system installed and that's why my orange wire is gone.

If they had something else installed like an alarm, it is possible that caused this to not be there. However, they normally just cut the wire and splice into it and not relocate the wire. However, if it is not there, I would just run a new one. If you locate the orange wire at the fuse block then you can just cut that and splice a new wire to it and run it to where it should have been. As I said, you can trace it but you may loose track of the harness because a lot of time they are run into and behind different components.

Let us know how you make out. Thanks

Hey sorry for the late response but I am having a hard time finding the a10 wire on the connector. I don't even remember which one is C1.

Sorry for the late response here, but I just got back into working on this issue. Turns out I do have an orange wire. The orange wire has 12.65 volts via the multi meter. Checked it with a test light and multi meter. What could be the issue? Maybe this purple wire?

I am not sure I understand what you are dealing with. I know you are having issues with the keyless entry but is this a system that you are adding and what is the current state of the wiring issue? Sounds like the wiring is all pulled apart. Maybe get a couple pictures because if you couldn't find the orange wire and now you found it and have proper voltage then we are missing something and I am not sure what that would be.

Well, it's four wires. I did find the orange wire before I just thought it was red because of the lighting I had. I went to pick n pull and got another Keyless entry transmitter (in case that was the culprit) and still nothing. I'll get a picture in a few minutes (getting the truck aligned) but there is a purple wire (not connected to anything), a solid black wire, a black and white wire, and an orange wire. Now I read on a Buick forum that a guy with an older model had to get keyless entry programmed to the BCM (by the dealership).

Okay. So you are looking at the RCDLR and the Orange wire is the B+ and you have proper voltage. So that is good.

The Purple wire is for the antenna. If that is not connected then it needs to be connected in pin 10 of the RCDLR.

The black wire is your ground.

The black and white wire is the signal wire to the BCM.

If you have all this, then your vehicle should be equipped already with keyless entry and we just need to get it working. Clearly that is what you are working towards but with info, I think we are finally on the same page.

Let's get some pictures of these wires and the RCDLR connectors so we can see how to hook the purple wire back up. Then we can monitor voltage on the black/white wire when you are pressing a button of a programmed transmitter. This will tell us if the RCDLR is the issue or the BCM that is not doing anything with it.
