Key stuck in ignition?

I was going to see if my truck would start after several years of not being used, so I found my key and placed it in the ignition and turned the key. My truck did not start because of the battery; but my key will not come out. I googled helps and tricks to get the key out those did not work and I also looked at the owner's manual and it said something about the anti-theft lock.
