Why does a 1999 jeep wrangler with an automatic trans seem to come out of gear when you stop then when you try to take off the engine revs then jumps back in gear?

Sounds like the tranny is actually slipping. Try pulling it down into low and manually shifting up through the gears from a stop. If it is slipping that bad then a rebuild is about all you can do. Let us know. Curt
