2002 Other Jeep Models Alternator Problems

I have had a problem once I start my car, I mean once I jump my jeep, the car runs rough and shakes, then shuts down. THe check gauges light comes on and the other gauges do not seem to work. Do I need to replace the alternator or is there another problem that I have not figured out

Dead battery means you need to reset anti theft system use key to unlock drivers door and it should reset
