Transmission problem
2000 Jeep Laredo 6 cyl Automatic

When the gears change in my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, they work fine until it changes from second to third gear. The only way I get it to change is to get the RPM's up to 3000. I've asked many people this and most of the answers lead to the transmission.

It is hard to diagnose this problem without being there and you may need a transmission tech. As I too believe this is the source of your problem with the description that you gave us.

It could be a few things but not all require a transmission rebuild and could be nothing more than a Governor Pressure Regulator that has gone bad. Have you chaecked your transmission fluid lately or changed your filter? Going long periods without changing your fluid could cause your transmission to not shift properly because of a clogged filter. This is why I would take it to a reputable transmission shop because you could be throwing money at it senslessly while trying to figure out what is wrong. I will tell you that more than likely, you do not need a transmission rebuild as most Jeep transmissions are built pretty sturdy.
