1999 Jeep Laredo Gas Mileage

My jeep grand cherokee only gets an average of 11.8 miles to the gallon and that's really low for it when it supposed to average 16 - 18 miles to the gallon at least. What could be possibilities for the reason that its like that?

If you drive it like you stole it, it will get that kind of gas mileage but if you are driving it gently then it could be a ton things causing this issue such as, clogged fuel filter, the vehicle in need of a tune-up, clogged fuel injectors, moisture in the gas tank, or s ensor getting ready to kick the bucket just to name a few.
