Car jefks when taking off

I have what sounds like the same problem - on initial accelleration (only happens just after starting) engines seems to stall, surge and sometimes I hear what sounds like a backfire. If just after starting I let the engine idle in park the engine will run rough - if I rev the engine it will sometimes go away while idling - other times I have to begin driving and get past the stalling point - after that it runs ok. I've noticed that if I attempt to give it more gas that normal the problem will not happen. Have noticed a very slight missing feel at highway speeds. Had plugs, wires, cap and rotor replaced - problem remains.
