Been having some trouble with my '99 JGC. Won't start. Completely stock 4.0 w/150k miles. Been my daily driver for years. Parked it in the morning and went to leave and wouldn't start. Done an OBD II scan with an advanced tool and there are NO faults, no recorded events. Fuel pressure fine @ 50 psi. Turns over but no spark or signal at injectors. Reset PCM. Replaced fuses and relays and spark plugs. Didn't help. ASD relay operates but no voltage at coil or injectors. Have been digging through tech stuff and came accross info about it possibly being a Central Timing Module issue.(From another forum. Is there such a thing, or is someone confused with a TCM?) That would be, I think, within the security module area. Anyway, anybody have any experience with this type of thing? Diagnostic recommendations, etc?

I guess you have to pay in order to get an answer on here. Too bad.

Anyway, decided to try a new $52 CPS since a factory diagnostic would have run me $87. Had to drop the tranny and engine by removing the transfer case/tranny cross mount, but after that CPS access was no problem. This would have to be done regardless of whether or not one can get the CPS mounting bolt out as the sensor is a tight fit and too long to remove with the engine/tranny in normal position. Fired right up. If in doubt, before doing anything major like replacing the PCM, try the cheap CPS sensor.

BTW- Total repair time was about an hour. Don't let the "drop engine and tranny" thing scare you. Just 8 bolts on the tranny and a floor jack to keep it from dropping TOO much and you're good.
