1998 Jeep Cherokee hesitates when you take off

Sometimes when I accelerate it hesitates and if I press harder on the pedal it starts to sputter and back fire. If I ease up it and then press on it, it goes fine. When I accelerate I'm not flooring it. Normal take off. I've had a tune-up and that didn't help.

Try the throttle position and manifold absolute pressure sensors-

Is it setting a check engine light? Do you know if they replaced the fuel filter? Do you know if they did a fuel pressure test?
