I have a 97 Jaguar XJ6. The moonroof is not opening. I hear the motor working but it doesnt open. I am assuming something is dislocated. Do you think it is something major? What would you suggest?
thank you.

The drive motor is located above the overhead console above the rearview mirror. Lower the console without disconnecting the lead to the roof switch. Once you can see the drive unit, activate the switch. You should be able to see the drive turn. If it does, the drive unit is held in by 2 or 3 screws, pull it out and inspect the drive sprocket and the cables it runs. I the motor runs but sprocket doesn't turn or is chewed up, replace the unit. "IF" the cables are chewed up or worn out. It's a new ball game. You have to pull doun the entire headliner and replace the track unit itself. Good luck, jimbo
