The trunk (boot) on my 92 xj6 will not open via the trunk release switch in the glove box nor by using the key and release button at the trunk itself. It feels as if the trunk release button is jammed. When I turn the key I hear no sound as well. What should I relpace?

Sounds like it may be the latch assembly, but you will have to get the boot open to see.First check fuse A2 in thefuse panel on the left side of the dash (5 amp) if ok test the Yellow/Orange wire at the trunk release solenoid for power when release button depressed, if has power the release solenoid is bad. Here is the wiring diagram for the trunk (boot) release

Question: If the solenoid is bad would that keep one from being able to depress the trunk release button? That thing seems like it is jammed. I turn the key and that button does not budge at all.

Knowing Jag itis probably all electric, ie; no manual latch so if that was the case it could jam up if the solenoid is bad
