I have a whistling sound coming from my engine.. When I first drive the car, the whistling noise starts about about 30 mph in 2nd gear and the whistle goes up in pitch and then down in pitch as soon as I brake to stop. But if I push on the gas and accelerate fast, the noise goes away. It does not occur if I just rev the engine and does not seem to occur in any other gears than 2nd but it also does not sound like it is transmission related, the car accelerates fine. What do you think the problem is?

The wife is having the same problem on her car as well. Same symtoms and sounds like a siren when you are slowing. It can be really loud and I am at a loss as what it may be so if you find out something PLEASE let me know.
Thanks

Have the prop shaft looked at. The prop shaft center bearing's go bad and make a whistling sound. Sometimes it sounds like a police or fire truck siren. They have problems on X-Type cars.
