My dopey boyfriend was in my car without the car on and put the air conditioning and radio on. Now my dashboard battery light is on. What should I do?

Hello,

It sounds like the battery might have drained due to having those accessories on, without the engine running.

If you are unable to start the vehicle, simply try to jump start it. Then let it idle and drive as normal. This should charge the battery backup (unless there is an issue with the alternator).

Now if the battery light stays on with the engine running then it is a sign of the battery not being charged. Possibly due to a bad alternator.

Here is a helpful guide on alternator test:

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
