I need some advice on the type of transmission repair needed to correct the jerking and what is a electronic mode switch error. Code is P0705.

P0705 is a code for Transmission Range Switch(Mode Switch) Illegal Position

It may just be a blown fuse or you will need to replace the range switch.

Does the switch have anything to do with the a function of the transmission causing it to jerk and slip?

When the last time you had the tranny serviced? Don't recall get it done and see what happens or bring it in to a transmission specialist and get pressure tested

The transmission range switch inputs signal to the computer and from there the computer selects the upshifts/downshifts by activating a given shifting solenoid to provide the proper gear shifts-could be a sticking solenoid
