I bought an intake for the truck. After I installed the intake (correctly) the truck constantly shuts off while driving as if it were sucking up too much air and causing the sensor telling the truck to shut off and when I put the stock air filter back on it ran fine. The MAF sensor works fine but should I get a new one that isn’t programmed for the normal amount of air that should be going through the truck?

Good morning,

What kind of aftermarket air intake did you install? I hope it is not a K/N.

Yes, the air is calculated coming through the air filter and Mass air flow as well. Altering that will change fuel mapping resulting in erratic engine operation.

You are much better off not using the new intake system.

Like it fits fine but it’s got to be the MAF sensor.

I would put your stock unit back on and leave it alone. That does nothing for performance anyway.

There is a lot more to increasing performance than adding a intake system like this.

Just my thoughts.

Well when I had it on I noticed a lot more power. But what else could I add to increase power besides an exhaust?

Bigger throttle body inlet. You would need to replace the throttle body and the exhaust. That will make the engine breather better.
