ignition switch -dealer?

I may need to replace my ignition switch on 2001 sable. Someone said i may have to go directly to the dealer and buy the part from there because of the key. is that true or can i buy simply at an auto parts store.

Yes, you must have it done at the dealer, they have to code a new key with the correct frequency chip.
