If I unplug the electronic spark control, is the engine suppose to die and could a bad ESC cause two cylinders to not fire and make the engine miss?

Try pulling one plug wire at a time to try to find cylinders that are missing then check plug wire for resistance, spark plug and compression. Also check for a vacuum leak under TBI unit. They blow gaskets there. Yes if you unplug ESC the engine will quit. It may be a distributor cap or low compression so check all this first.
