Depends on what is wrong with it. If one lobe wore down due to lack of oil, you will have a misfire on that one cylinder. If it broke in the middle, it usually results in a crank/no-start. The cause of that is generally improper repair for a warped cylinder head if the cam shaft is in the head. A warped head will lead to a repeat failure.
