I have done everything I can think of, when I turn the radio on it goes in and out like there is a short, or when I roll up the window the locks unlock. My alarm system light was not working I got the light to flash. I am hoping that someone can help me with this problem. Please let me know what to do. Sincerely, Tim Newton

Good morning.

Have you checked the battery for proper voltage? It sounds like you have low voltage.

Why did you replace the starter?

Because like I would say about four days prior to me changing it it would start to like drag it was getting harder and harder to start. So my brother said it was the starter. And so I put in new valve covers gaskets and I put in manifold gaskets to. But when I first put it in the engine tried to start when I put the battery cables on. The key was not even on. I would really like some help I really love this car and I plan to have it completely restored some day.

Okay, did you verify the wiring to the starter? Make sure the positive cable from the battery is not touching the small terminal on the solenoid. That will activate the starter.
Also, check the battery voltage and make sure is it at 12.6 volts. Low voltage can make a lot of strange things happen.

Okay thanks. I will do that. Is there anyway I can test that without having to tear it all down again?

Check the wiring that goes to it. I believe the wires come in from the back of the block. Make sure there is not damage to the little wire to the solenoid.

Now when I put my light to the starter relay box it lit up, so that tells me that the box is good correct? Once I take it apart I will send you a picture.

The starter relay, I had somewhat of a breakthrough tonight. I fully charged my battery put it in my car and got in and tried to start it and it turned over as I was turning the key before I even got to the on position. Now that is where I am at.

Okay, assuming it did not do that prior to the repair. You will need to go to the starter, sorry to say, and check the wiring. The positive cable may be touching the little terminal or the little wire to the solenoid may be the issue. If all them are okay, then you may have either a bad new starter or an ignition switch, which I doubt since this was not an issue before.
