My car is now missing what I now know to be the intake manifold, it runs badly, eats gas, engine light is on all the sudden and someone I know has been stealing everyone's converters with no shame and I need to know for sure mine is gone and why he would also take my manifold? And how it's even possible, please and thank you.

PS. I am a single woman and am only now learning about engines so please forgive my lack of knowledge and ignorant questions.

Hi,

Okay, first, I need to know if the vehicle has a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder engine. Both were available in this model. Also, the info below pertains to a 4 cylinder.

Honestly, the intake manifold would prevent the vehicle from running at all. The exhaust manifold, if missing, will cause the engine to be extremely loud. Nothing will be connecting it to the muffler.

The exhaust manifold will be located on the rear of the engine. It will connect to the exhaust system. If you look at pic 1 below, I circled two different catalytic converters. The upper one is part of the exhaust manifold.

Also, I circled in blue the intake manifold on pic 2. If you follow the air induction tube from the air filter box (AF in pic) it will lead you to the throttle body which is attached to the intake.

If you recognize something that is missing on your vehicle, take a pic where it belongs and upload it for me to see. Also, there is no such thing as a stupid question. Ignorance results from not asking. LOL I'm here to help as much as I can.

Let me know if the engine is now loud as if the muffler fell off. Also, ask any questions that you have.

Take care,

Joe
