Have you checked the reverse light switch? It's on the transmission. Power passes through it when the vehicle is in reverse and turn the lights on.

I can't find the switch there are 3 different plugs that are going in the transmission. I got a new switch from the auto parts and none of the plugs match up with the new switch.

It is located on the left side of the transmission. It's possible they gave you the wrong one.
