My car appears to have a slippage of the transmission, while moving. When I start out moving, the transmission appears to be slipping, and while shifting gears. The RPM gauge, goes above 3000, while shifting but then comes down. It also sounds like the engine is not catching up, while the slippage is happening. Once I am up to 5 gear and moving above 60 mph, it appears to only slip, if I step on the gas, to try and pass another vehicle. The RPM gauge again goes up above 3000, but then drops down.

What is going on, and is this a problem that someone with limited knowledge, and tools can self fix?I have very very limited funds to put into this vehicle for a repair.

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

Transmissions are extremely complex and there are may special tools required to do most repairs, you will have to get this inspected by a trans specialist first, they will be able to diagnose the problem and advise what is the best option for you.
