Tiburon Electrical issue

Hi,

I've got a 1998 Hyundai Tiburon FX, 180,000 Km/s 2.0 Ltr 4CYL DOHC.

My issue is with my foglights and my left front turn signal and horn.

If I don't have the headlamps on and I turn on the left turn signal. It flashes fine. If I turn on my fog lights and my headlamps than I goto use the left turn signal it freezes and on the instrument panel the left signal glows slightly AND only the right fog light illuminates and not the left.

The weirdest part is that if I have my headlamps and foglights on and I goto use the left turn signal. The foglights flash very dimmly.

If I press on the horn button, the left signal light--lights up on the instrument panel; sometimes the horn works and sometimes it doesn't.

I tested the circuit on the left front turn signal. There is voltage going to the ground wire, and the other wires seem to be okay.

Also, I have a alarm system installed (Viper 310HV). If I press the arm/disarm button and the fog light button is sit to "on" the front signal lights, fog lights, and tail lights flash. I've had this alarm installed for months without issue. Now, the fog lights won't flash when arming/disarming.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Will

Aftermarket alarms are cheap junk electronics. They cause more no-start and other problems than they are worth in my opinion. First check the grounds at the fog and turn signals to be sure they are good. If they are I would remove the alarm from the exterior lighting and see if the problem goes away. When under the dash, look at the wires carefully, alarm installers use "scotch-locks" that clamp the wire to tap into it, often breaking the wire.
