I have a 2001 Hyundai Accent that has had its spark plugs changed a couple of months ago. Today while driving the car, it almost stalls out when idling and the check engine light comes on and flashes then when speeding up turns off. The car currently has 116,000+ miles on it. I've been reading that it mean that the engine is misfiring. Could it have anything to do with the timing belt since it is approaching the end of its life at 120,000? Money is really tight right now so any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi psu189,

Thank you for the donation

When the CEL indicates, an error in the emission or engine management system has been detected and it could be any or more than a hunderd possibilities.

Autozone performs free scanning services for trouble code retrieval. Get vehicle scanned and let me know the EXACT trouble code so I can understand what is wrong and can get the required data for you.
