1990 honda CRX. 143,000. 5spd. My tachometer is all over the place. There is no noticeable change in engine speed. There are no strange sounds. I have observed this under many conditions and there are not any that correlate. Just have a very hyperactive tachometer. Thanks in advance.

If the speedometer is not jumping around, I think the tach is bailing on you. Had a 1990 and had to replace it doing the same thing.

Thx for your response. I had heard that it could be caused by fault in the ignition system. I replaced the plugs, wires, distributor cap, and ignition rotor. This work for about 100 miles. Might continue in this direction a bit more. If you have any thoughts. Thx again
