I put a new front oxygen sensor on (generic) - brand name was Replacement. Now I have code P1158 and it won't go off - it's been a week. What do I do?

Hi schnebbles,

Thank you for the donation.

Honda do not take kindly to some generic sensors so it could be the cause.

Here are the diagnostic procedures for the code.

Hi - the code P1158 said mfg controlled fuel & air metering. Does this make a difference?

We unplugged the battery last night and the code temporarily went off but came right back on.

The actual code is the one that I have provided.

Some generic scanners do not have the complete fault list and for any that is not within their database, it would be given as a general statement of mfg controlled fuel & air metering.

Check if the sensor that you replaced had the wires correctly installed and perform the test accordingly.

Resetting would not solve the problem if a fault is present.
