Honda Civic engine knock when idling and A/C on

2000 Honda Civic VP, 137K miles, 1.6L 4-cyl

I am having an issue with my Honda Civic. When the A/C is on and the car is idle, the engine starts to knock and it seems like the A/C is cycling on and off.

When the car starts moving, the A/C works fine. The issue is only when the car is idle.

I added some 1394 freon thinking that it was low, but that did not help.

Any thoughts of what might be causing the engine knocking?

First of all you need to ask if it is the engine or a component on the engine. For instance, the compressor itself can knock and the power steering unit can knock as well. Another possibility is a motor mount. You need to do some deeper investigating.
