I have a 2001 honda civic lx and I need to do a transmission flush on the car. I called around and they can be quiet costly. But from what they told me some cars have a plug and they just drain all the fluid out and then they plug it back up and put fluid in. I was wondering if my car was one with a plug or would they have to hook I up the a machine and flush it?

You can do either or.

The transmission flush will flush the entire amount (roughly 9L) out of the transmission. The drain and fill will just replace roughly 3-4L.

Hi there,

Your car will have a drain plug in the pan, but this will only remove about 80% of the oil oil, there is a considerable amount of oil in the torque converter and the transmission cooling lines, this will re mix with the fresh oil and its not that advisable to do that, the flush is the only real way to fully change the transmission oil.
