I have a 2001 Honda Civic ccoupe that has sat unused for about one year, and has had very limited usage for the last 2 1/2 years.
What potential problems am I facing and what precautions should I take before starting and using the car?

Hi davebrake,

Thank you for the donation.

There are many things you should check and test before attempting to start driving the vehicle.

1. Battery. It should be bad after sitting for so long.
2. Beltings. Check if any are frayed or cracked.
3. Fluids and lubricants. Check engine oil, Trans fluid, Brake fluid.
4. Tires. Check for cracks or any form of deterioration.
5. Test brake pedal height and pressure. After starting, drive slowly and test brakes efficiency.
6. The fuel might be bad as well.

Apart from above, check for fdamage to wires harness caused by rodents etc.
