Just today I took my 2000 Civic EX to an Autozone store to get a read on the "check engine" light that has been a steady yellow glow for about a week and a half now. It came on after replacing my factory gas cap with a locking cap that does not close all the way ( always spun freely to the right when tightening ). After determining that the cap might be the cause, I replaced the locking cap with my factory cap. But that was 100+ miles ago. I took the car to Autozone for a diagnosis and, of course, the scanner gave a P-1456 error. I explained to the tech what lead to the problem and he told me to drive the car for about 2 more weeks to see if the light goes out. He explained that different makes have different drive cycles to clear these errors. The tech did make sure to check what that specific code on a 2000 Civic could mean. It came up with a loose gas cap as the initial cause. The tech said if the light does not clear after a couple of weeks to take to a dealership. The only thing they may suggest is getting a new cap. Can anyone tell me if this not-so-serious error will clear after a few drive cycles?
have the same problem?
