1999 Honda Civic uses oil

Between oil changes the car uses 1-1.5 qts of oil. It is not leaking. Could this be leading to a serious problem?

Right around 3,000 miles.

That's not that bad I think honda allows 1qt per 2,000 mile's of oil usage if memory serve's right. Your vechile is just using some oil I would check the pcv see if that is sticking open that could add to oil usage. Using some oil could damage your cat and o2 sensor's but that's what happens when engine's start using oil. You could get some lucas oil stabilzer that will help slow down oil usage. Aside from doing a rebuild or a engine replacement you don't have many choice's.
